Fargo has two major hospitals:

Sanford Health is an integrated health system headquartered in the Dakotas. It is the largest, rural, not-for-profit health care system in the nation with 45 hospitals and 289 clinics in nine states and three countries. With 28,000+ employees, including 1,300+ physicians in more than 80 specialty areas of medicine, Sanford Health is the largest employer in the Dakotas.
Nearly $1 billion in gifts from philanthropist Denny Sanford have allowed for several initiatives, including global children's clinics, genomic medicine and specialized centers researching cures for type 1 diabetes, breast cancer and other diseases.

  • Sanford Health is excited to grow with the Fargo region and continue bringing excellence in health care with the opening of our new medical center in 2017. 

    This $494 million project is one of the largest private industry construction projects in the history of the Dakotas and one of the top health care projects in the U.S. Our 11-story, 1-million-square foot facility will be conveniently located on the south side of I-94 at the intersection between Veteran’s Boulevard and 51st St. in Fargo, N.D.
    The new Medical Center will include:
  • Family Birth Center
  • Neonatal intensive care unit
  • Pediatrics and pediatric intensive care unit
  • Emergency services and trauma
  • Heart surgery and interventional cardiology
  • ICU and medical surgical services
  • Neurosurgery

  • Essentia Health is a south Fargo Hospital comprised of a hospital and 
    clinic. The arrangement of the clinic and hospital, just steps apart, allows
    for  an efficient management of resources. Innovis Health has 86 private patient 
    rooms, including critical care, medical surgical care, pediatric, neonatal 
    intensive care, and maternity care. Services on-site include a 24 hour
    Emergency  Department with Level II trauma designation as well as Urgent Care
    which is  staffed 12 hours a day. The hospital and clinic at this location have
    a combined  10 operating room suites, which include inpatient and day
    surgery.
    Essentia Health has 7 locations in Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo, 8 regional 
    clinics in Minnesota, and 7 regional clinics in North Dakota (one in
    Casselton).
